The Mets sent another promising player back to minor league camp, as they optioned RHP Akeel Morris early Thursday, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
Morris was stellar in 2014 for Single-A Savannah, going 4-1 with a 0.63 ERA in 41 relief appearances in his age-21 season, earning a Sterling Award for his outstanding performance at the end of last year.
He was added to the 40-man roster this past November to avoid exposure in the Rule 5 draft. Morris allowed one run in three innings of work in three Grapefruit League games this spring.
