What to look for: Mets vs. Red Sox, 1:05 PM

Jet Blue Park Fenway south

Here is what I am looking for from the Mets in their game against the Red Sox in Fort Myers on Monday…

IMG_6463A Matt Harvey rebound.

Harvey struggled in his second start of the spring last week against the Marlins, and said he felt sluggish and fatigued over the course of the outing. He’s expected to throw around 60 pitches this afternoon against the Red Sox – hopefully he rebounds with a crisp and consistent outing at Fenway South.

The corner outfielders.

Michael Cuddyer will once again play left field, and Curtis Granderson will man right field. While unusual, it should prove to be an interesting test for Cuddyer specifically, as he has to deal with a mini Green Monster directly behind him. His lack of experience at the position has been well-documented, so playing in difficult conditions can only help improve his familiarity at the position.

More progress for Noah Syndergaard.

Syndergaard will make his third appearance of the spring behind Harvey. Previously, it was unlikely he could make the club out of camp, but with Zack Wheeler likely headed for Tommy John Surgery, his appearances could become more meaningful as the team closes in on Opening Day.

You can listen to the game on WOR 710 AM radio or MLB Gameday audio.

  1. Not a Terry hater in the slightest… but insisting on this “Cuddyer in left, Grandy in right” scenario is not helping his cause.
