The Mets (3-6) and the Washington Nationals (4-3) face each other for the second time this Spring today at 1:10 PM at Tradition Field. Here is what to look for during Thursday’s game…
Jacob deGrom will make his second start of the Spring, after allowing one earned run in three innings in his first go-around. DeGrom should throw somewhere around 50 pitches today as he continues to stretch out in March.
Left-handed pitching prospect Steven Matz is scheduled to pitch. Matz impressed many in his start against the Miami Marlins last week when he pitched two perfect innings. Matz is not in the mix to make the team as a reliever.
With the news that Josh Edgin may need Tommy John surgery, the battle between Dario Alvarez and Sean Gilmartin for the second lefty relief pitcher spot on the roster begins. We’ll see if either or both see time in today’s game.
Today’s game can be seen locally on SNY and MLB.tv.
