The Mets (3-5) and the Miami Marlins (4-2) face each other for the third time this Spring today at 1:05 PM at Roger Dean Stadium. Here is what to look for during Wednesday’s game…
Matt Harvey will make his second start of the Spring. Harvey was electric in his first start, pitching two perfect innings against the Detroit Tigers last Friday, and will reportedly throw as many as 50 pitches in Jupiter today. It will be interesting to see how Harvey fares as he goes deeper into these games.
Outfield prospect Michael Conforto will start in left field for the Mets. Conforto turned heads in his first start, going 3-for-4 at the dish with 3 RBI on Saturday.
Daniel Murphy will play for the first time since being hit in the hand by a pitch against the Detroit Tigers last Friday.
Shortstop prospect Matt Reynolds will bat leadoff on Wednesday. Reynolds is off to a good start, but unless Wilmer Flores gets hurt, Spring Training may be Mets fans’ only shot to watch Reynolds for quite awhile.
Finally, Ruben Tejada will start at third base today, something he’s never done in his career. Tejada is going to be the back-up middle infielder for the Mets this season, and it appears that Terry Collins is trying to see how much more versatile Tejada can be.
Today’s game will not be televised, but can be listened to on MLB Gameday audio.
