Matt Harvey said there are other pitchers who are more deserving of the Opening Day start in Washington.

“I missed all of last year, there are guys who have accomplished more and more deserving of starting the next year. If I had pitched last year and pitched like I did in 2013, we would be speaking of something differently,” Harvey said.

Earlier this week, Sandy Alderson said the decision on who starts on Opening Day is up to Terry Collins, but he believes Harvey missing all of last year will play a role in the decision.

However, Terry Collins told reporters on Saturday Harvey is not being considered for the Opening Day start.
