The same elbow that prematurely ended Juan Lagares’ 2014 season may be of some concern, Kristie Ackert of the Daily News writes.
“We’re watching all the throwing he does right now, watching it intently,” Terry Collins said, according to Ackert. “We’ll monitor it during the season, you know the pregame stuff and the throwing programs. We’re telling him to save those bullets for games.”
Lagares missed the final ten games of the 2014 season after spraining his elbow.
It seems to me that the Mets are playing it safe with Lagares here, and, when you’re dealing with your 25-year-old Gold Glover center fielder, the more careful you are, the better. Especially during Spring Training.
Lagares will not participate in Tuesday’s intrasquad game, according to Collins, however it is not related to his right elbow. Lagares is scheduled to play in the Mets’ game against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
